The Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) supports the development and expansion of a market economy and democratic society in Albania. It represents a strong tradition of friendship and goodwill between the United States and Albania and promotes the exchange of ideas and experience between people of both countries.

The AADF is a not-for-profit corporation established in the State of Delaware, USA, with 501(c)(3) status granted by the Internal Revenue Service. It was created by the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund (AAEF) with the support and encouragement of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Government. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees and maintains offices in Tirana, Albania and New York, New York.

The AAEF created the Foundation in accordance with the provision of the Support for East European Democracy Act of 1989 (SEED ACT), which limits the investing life of the AAEF, and requires the establishment of a “legacy organization” using the proceeds of liquidated investments to continue the Fund’s mission of promoting private sector development and to serve as a symbol of the United States’ friendship to the people of Albania.
