Biography Hugh Lawson is a Managing Director and senior member of the power and energy investment team within Private Financing Solutions (PFS) at BlackRock. He serves as co-CEO of HPS Real Assets Lending Company LP (HREAL) and is a member of the HREAL Investment Committee and the Asset-Based Finance Deal Review Committee. Prior to joining HPS in 2023 as a Partner, Mr. Lawson spent 25 years at Goldman Sachs in New York, London, and Hong Kong, most recently as a Partner and participating Managing Director. During his tenure, he held senior global leadership roles in Asset Management, including Global Head of Institutional Client Strategy and co-head of U.S. Institutional Sales. He also co-headed Alternative Capital Markets, a team that originated, structured, and distributed alternative investment strategies for institutional and private wealth investors, and co-headed Hedge Fund Strategies, a multi-strategy hedge fund platform. Earlier in his career and through subsequent leadership roles, Mr. Lawson led the acquisition and development of multi-asset, private equity, and quantitative investment capabilities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Mr. Lawson began his career at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, where he later served as Trustee and Investment Committee Chairman. He currently serves as a trustee of the Albanian American Development Foundation. Mr. Lawson earned a BA from Columbia University, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and a JD from Yale Law School. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
