The First RTI Digitization Training for Butrint Specialists

The museum and archaeology specialists in Butrint have completed their first training in advanced RTI (Reflectance Transformation Imaging) digitization techniques. This training was carried out as part of the EXPA project, where specialists were provided with modern equipment to execute digitization processes.

These new skills will enable the documentation and promotion of the many points of public and scientific interest at the Butrint site.

The new work manual for specialists will include detailed guidelines on documenting and promoting the Butrint museum collection, identifying areas in need of conservation intervention, and monitoring physical changes to monuments using RTI techniques.

This advanced technology allows for highly accurate identification of physical changes or potential damages, providing a valuable tool for the long-term maintenance of monuments. Trained specialists will also produce photographic and promotional materials, helping to increase the site’s visibility.

This training marks a significant step toward modernizing documentation and preservation practices for cultural heritage in Butrint, contributing to the recognition and protection of our cultural legacy for future generations.
