A Vision of Heritage and Human Rights on Holocaust Remembrance Day

Each year, on January 27^th, the global community commemorates the Holocaust victims and contemplates the principles of human rights and dignity. On this significant day, the AADF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Vlora, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Albanian Jewish Museum project.

The Albanian Jewish Museum aims to establish a new standard for museums in Albania, encompassing aspects such as management, architecture, exhibitions, and education. Having concluded its initial research phase, the project led by the AADF, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Vlore, is now entering its second phase, which is dedicated to the architectural and exhibition development project.

The conceptual framework for the museum, crafted by the AADF in collaboration with the lead consultant, Prof. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, envisions the creation of a 21^st-century museum deeply rooted in its location, honoring the legacy of those who once resided there and those who presently call it home.
