AADF Partners with Ministry of Culture to Secure Global Recognition for Albanian Intangible Cultural Heritage

The AADF has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Culture to lend support to Albania’s application for the inclusion of four intangible cultural heritage elements in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The AADF will provide financial support to national and international groups of experts who will conduct research and prepare the application for the inclusion of four Albanian intangible cultural heritage elements, namely the Xhubleta, Tropoja’s folk dance (K’cimi i Tropojës), the Songs of the Frontier Warriors, and Transhumance.

AADF will provide financial support totaling $220,000 for the period spanning from 2020 to 2023, with the primary objective of securing the inclusion of these elements in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The project expands the AADF’s portfolio further into the realm of cultural heritage and tourism, with a broader emphasis on local communities and their indigenous traditions.
