The Albanian Jewish Museum: Incorporating historical heritage in a contemporary setting

The National Opera Theatre in Tirana hosted a gathering of esteemed guests for the unveiling of the architectural design of the Albanian Jewish Museum. Among these guests were representatives from the AADF, the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, the Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, and the heads of diplomatic missions in Tirana.

The renowned Israeli architecture studio, Kimmel-Eshkolot Architects, presented their architectural proposal and provided an in-depth explanation of their concept for the museum. The project’s design harmoniously incorporates the essence of the historic center. While it preserves the past, it interprets the exceptional history of coexistence between Albanians and the Jewish community in a modern and contemporary manner.

The AADF holds a strong belief that this project will make a valuable contribution to future generations, providing them with the opportunity to connect with their historical heritage within a contemporary context.
