On Sunday October 8th, Mr. Michael Granoff the Chairman of AADF, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro the Minister of Culture, Mr. Damian Gjiknuri the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy and Mr. Dritan Leli the Mayor of Vlora, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of the Tourism Improvement District in the Vlora Historic Area (TID Vlora).
In the inauguration of the start of construction works in “Justin Godard” and “Thoma Bejko” (Jewish street) was present Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Board Members and Co-CEOs of AADF, and other partners.
This project will contribute to increase of properties value by improving infrastructure and will promote active participation of local community in the area decision making. Building and strengthening of multiple partnerships will be an important role of the project that will increase the quality of public services.
AADF will invest around $4.5 Million in the TID Vlora project, in activities that include the area architectural design, construction and restoration of the buildings facades, and support to business development. The Government of Albania has committed to fund approximately US$ 10 million in this project. The TID Vlora building construction and restoration phase is expected to be completed by end of year 2018.
The revitalization of Vlora Historic Area will make possible for the area to become one of the most important tourist destinations in the region.
