On Sunday September 25th, Mr. Michael Granoff the Chairman of AADF, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Eglantina Gjermeni the Minister of Urban Development and Mrs. Zamira Rami the Mayor of Gjirokaster, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the revitalization of the Gjirokastra Pazar. The parties are engaged in the creation of the Tourism Improvement District in Gjirokastra Pazar (TID Gjirokastra).
The inauguration of the restoration in blocks 3, 6, 7 & 8 in “Qafa e Pazarit” had the presence of Board Members and Co-CEOs of AADF, Deputy Director of World Bank and other partners. One of the aims of this project is also to increase the value of properties by improving infrastructure and will promote active involvement of local community in decision making. Building and strengthening of multiple partnerships will be an important role of the project that will increase the quality of public services.
AADF will invest $3.2 Million for TID Gjirokastra project. The investment includes project design for the entire area, including “Cerciz Topulli” square and project implementation for “Qafa e Pazarit” project in the above blocks. The restoration phase of this investment is foreseen to be completed by June 2017.
The revitalization of Gjirokastra Pazar, will allow for the area to become one of the most important tourist destination in the region.
